Waikawa Fishing Company offer a range of services beyond its fishing activities.

Vessel hire
Boats from the company’s three-vessel fleet are available for charter. This includes service and supply (for activities such as oil and gas seismic survey and drilling), marine research, vessel recovery.

Our Vessels
Te Kahurangi | This Carey designed hard-chine timber and fibreglass vessel was built for Waikawa Fishing Company in 1992. It has a forward wheelhouse, raked stern, raised forecastle, bulwarks and aft working deck. It is 19.3 metres long and has a beam of 5.9m metres and draft of 2.2m. The main engine is a Scania DI-16 650hp marine diesel. Deck machinery includes two station hydraulic steering and systems for line/pot hauling. There is a hydraulic anchor winch on bow deck. The fish-room is insulated to ISO specifications with capacity for 25 tonnes of bulk fish.

Sea Hawke II | This is a typical Australian design offshore trawling vessel with a forward wheelhouse, raked stem, raised forecastle, square stern, large working deck with high bulwarks and stern trawl ramp. Built in West Australia in 1990, the construction is of welded steel plating. The main engine is a 60hp Caterpillar 3412 series marine diesel. Deck machinery includes a pair of Jaden hydraulic trawl winches and hydraulic Haib type deck crane.

Pacific Challenger | This Japanese-built vessel of 29m is used for trawling and lining around New Zealand. It has a raked stern and welded steel plating. The engine is a 745kw Caterpillar diesel. It has Jayden hydraulic winches. This vessel has recently been fitted with blast freezers to accommodate on-board processing. It can hold 140 tonne of bulk fish.
